For customers who have mixed technology boards Axiom uses the ERSA VERSAFLOW fully automatic in-line selective soldering system, operating under a Nitrogen atmosphere.

A unique feature is the fact that the solder pot moves in X-Y and Z axes, so PCB’s can be conveyor fed, similarly to a wave soldering machine.

Benefits of selective soldering:-

• Reduced costs compared with hand and wave soldering
• Consistently good solder joints Speed (compared to hand soldering)
• Temperature stability - Pre-heat capacity allows heating of the whole of the PCB to the correct temperature and then hold it at this temperature while the joints are being soldered Increases product quality and yield by reducing solder rejects
• More environmentally friendlier than wave soldering since its flux, solder usage and emission levels are significantly less

Soldering is either with regular tin/lead solder, or lead free as requested by customer.
