RoHS Compliance

Migration to lead free

Many OEM's are already lead free, but for those companies who are still exempt, if and when the time comes to make the transition, Axiom will work with you to review your bills of materials for component compliance. Followed by a plan to get your products ready to meet RoHS legislation.

We will look at:-

  • Are the current components compliant or not?
  • Identifying new part numbers for compliant components
  • Identifying alternative manufacturers and / or components

Where product design or assembly methodology needs amending we will advise you of the work required to ensure compliance with timescales and costs.

Axiom leading the industry

Axiom is leading the industry with its proactive approach to assisting its customers with compliance to the ROHS directive.

Axiom was the first CEM to be awarded the BSI Kitemark Approval to IPC-610D with lead-free capability in 2005, this was then followed with the accolade of being the first European Union site to receive IPC Certification for lead free electronics assembly process capability in 2006.

Quick Facts

The RoHS Directive came into force on 1 July 2006.

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment".

This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
